Awesome Summer evening Wednesday walk along the river bank

I managed to drag myself out for a walk tonight, after quite a busy day, and I am so glad I did. The weather was beautiful here, and it was an awesome evening.

I went out to the River Almond on the east of Edinburgh, and took the river bank path up the side. The colours were beautiful and there was lovely reflections too.

The sun was beginning to set so it was also providing lovely long shadows across the path.

I started out by the Cramond Brig (bridge), and walked up river from there. The bridge was reflecting beautifully !

It really is a nice walk and the river was running fairly low, so it was possible to get down on the bank, which was quite nice for a change.

I was trying to catch the sun back lighting the trees - mmm, maybe !

And again in this small meadow area.

I was making for the old bridge which is around a mile up or so. With the water so low I was able to work my way along the bank to go under it which is a first.

Its quite a quirky bridge, and is actually called the Grotto Bridge !

There was a lot of wild garlic out in bloom, and you could smell it along large stretches of the walk. There were huge patches of it, with its white flowers, down in the forest floor beside the river.

This part of the walk goes through an area called Maxi's Glen (glen is a Scottish word for valley). The pine trees down in this part are pretty darn tall !

And the one above must have come down in a storm.

The sun was getting lower as I made my way back down, and I caught the pic above of the farmers cows in the sunset.

Passing by the meadow again I managed to grab a pic of these lovely pink wildflowers.

And back near the start of the path these trees were reflecting nicely in the river.

A couple of ducks jumped into the river which made for some cool ripples with the reflection.

And then I went up onto the Cramond Brig to take the last few shots before heading home. Thats a plane in the upper right coming into land at Edinburgh airport, and its hard to sea but there is a fish rising just to the right of the middle, at the bottom of the picture.

I'm so glad that I made it out tonight, and I also clocked up close to 10000 steps in the proceeds, so all-in-all, it was a fantastic evening !

You are welcome @hoosie 👋🏻😊
I know… things didn’t go as planned with the move, so that kept me on my feet for a while.
Luckily I posted yesterday again. A walk and a bit of an update. Will update on all on my next posts now.
I’m ok though… bit bruised hahaha due to the tiling and moving around boxes.
Have a great Thursday 😎

Very often, I'm doing the same thing as you... Trying to catch those sun rays through the trees... 😃 Sometimes it goes well, sometimes the photos got burned... lol... I suppose that it's not all on us, but it has something about the time of the day...

Great photos! I would like to take a walk in that forest, over that bridge, and along the river banks... It looks like a very peaceful place...

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post!

Those really are some beautiful photos! What a great area for a walk! I love that bridge. It reminds me a lot of some of the ones near where I live. I think it has to do with the big arching span.
