Saturday Savers Club Progress week 5 - HPUD and Powered up 210 HP

avatar

Its week 5 (03/02/24) of my savings focus for 2024 with the Saturday Savers Club which is a great Hive community initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account.

My goals for this year are:

  • Primary goal - to increase my HP by 7500, to 18500 HP,
  • Secondary goal - to increase my HP delegation to @eds-vote by 1000 HP, to 3000 HP (because I want to accumulate more of the EDS token).

I will also be continuing to increase my holding of investment tokens, and delegating HP to a number of good community curation accounts as well.

This weeks pic - Now that we are into February here in Scotland we are starting to see some more signs of life in the garden. The snow drops have come out, which are always the first plant to flower in our garden. Its great to see them. And as February progresses we should soon start seeing the daffodils come out as well. These are also great reminders that it will soon be spring, and that warmer weather is coming (towards the end of March for us).

Weekly Stats

Weekly commentary

  • HP Gain: I gained +210 HP during the week which is pretty darn awesome thanks to some nice post payouts combined with the low price of HIVE. I also took 10 HIVE out of my HBD:HIVE trading fund and used that for HPUD. I'm always happy if I can gain more than 100 HP in a week, however anything about 200 is in the awesome bracket - so I'm pretty happy with this !,
  • HP Passive: 16.56 of my HP gain this week came from curation (+9.9HP, not really passive) and HP APR (+6.66 HP). I'm happy that this is now at a value to make a difference each week - its a great incentive to keep on piling up the HP !,
  • HP goal: My HP total now stands at 11513 HP and I need a further 6987 HP to hit my primary goal of 18500 HP. At 47 weeks to go, that requires 147 per week (down one per week), which is pretty steep and will be quite a challenge,
  • HP delegation to @eds-vote: My HP delegation to @eds-vote increased by +13HP to 2054 HP. I need to delegate another 946 to hit my secondary target to raise my total delegation to 3000 HP. That will require an average of 19.9 HP delegated per week to hit it, which I should achieve,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: I delegated another +13 HP to @curangel to bring that total to 144. The aim to to take that to 250 HP - its getting there !,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: The main aim of these community delegations is to support these great curation accounts that have helped me along the way to where I am now, but I'm also getting nice daily drips of HIVE as a result from @ocdb, @qurator and @curangel as they pass on their curation income to delegators, which is a nice little bonus !
I tend to reinvest those HIVE drips from the curation accounts back into my HBD:HIVE trading fund, giving a nice little synergy to growing another income stream,
  • EDS: I gained +2.31 EDS. My 2054 HP delegation to @eds-vote brought in +1.77 EDS this week and the rest was from the mining lottery for holding EDSMMs (I have 146 of those) and the weekly drip from holding EDSD (which was 0.03 EDS this week). I'm pretty happy when my weekly EDS gain is above 2. I selected increasing my delegation to @eds-vote as my secondary goal as I'm really keen to keep accumulating EDS, and focusing on the HP delegation works well with my primary goal of increasing my HP total,
  • EDSD: I added another 2 EDSD this week, although with the price of HIVE as low as it is, I'm likely to pause purchases until the price of HIVE goes back above $0.35. While the price is so low I'd rather been trading any HBD I earn into HIVE,
  • DAB: I gained +2.297 DAB this week, taking my total to 56.9 DAB. I cant complain when the weekly gain is above 2, so I'm happy with that,
  • DBOND: I gained +4 DBOND taking my total to 730. I had a small amount of spare swap.HIVE so used that to buy some in the market noting that a bunch more has been released at 1 HIVE each. There is only about 4000 of those left, so now is the time to buy,
  • DRIP: I gained +2 DRIP this week, taking my total to 109, which is a result of the daily passive gains over the week from staking the DRIP I already have,
  • HBD:HIVE Trading: The price of HIVE has stayed below my normal trading range this week. My lowest set trade is at $0.33, so I wont start trading again until the price of HIVE hits that. I have to say that I'm a bit concerned about how HIVE is not tracking to the price of BTC, except when it goes down. HIVE followed BTC down just after the dump when the ETFs got approved. However, when BTC then moved back up a little, HIVE didnt. Thats been a little bit of a trend over the last year or so, and I hope it does not continue.

Plan for the coming week

  • Regular Posting: To continue to make sure I post daily/regularly to ensure daily HBD and HIVE author rewards (although I havent been managing so well on this front since the start of the year, so I need to get back into the rhythm). I've also started using Inleo more for posting which should help give a boost to my LEO income, especially with the Leo-ADs initiative now kicking in - we'll see how it goes !,
  • Curation: To be active in HIVE Blog curation to help with HIVE curation rewards. My curation is mostly manual and I mostly try to keep my voting mana between 80 to 90%,
  • Undelegated HP: To continue to increase undelegated HP in order to improve HIVE curation rewards,
  • HBD:HIVE trading: To continue with HBD:HIVE trading - if the price of HIVE goes back above $0.33. I'll continue to add additional funds (in small amounts) to my trading capital each week, in the active trading range, when I'm trading, which will help grow the gains over the long term (albeit slowly). I do this by adding any HIVE/HBD drips I get landing in my Hive Wallet from things like curation. When a trade goes through, I then just add any amount left in the wallet from those drips into the next flip trade when I set it up - this method has been working nicely to help slowly grow my trading fund in the active trading range, which is great,
  • HP delegation to @eds-vote: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to @eds-vote will add a further 21 HP,
  • HP delegation to curation accounts: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to community curation accounts will add a further 21 HP to my @curangel delegation.
  • EDSD: My aim has been to buy 1-2 EDSD per week to help build up my pot of those, and in turn my EDS stack, but as said above, I'll probably pause buying while the price of HIVE is so low until it recovers to around $0.35.

Summary

In summary, it was a very good week. A gain of 210 is exceptionally good in my book so there are no complaints there. It was also nice to add a a few more EDSD and DBOND (above normal passive gains). I'm also excited to see how things will work out now that I'm using the Inleo interface for posting. I'm finding it pretty good for posting so far.

My Tribe Token Investment Project

My experiment with 8 different tribe tokens on my alt account @hoosieboy is moving along nicely. The experiment is designed to grow semi-passively via staking, curation, posting and rebalancing - in a way where the methods should work together and add constructively. Everything gets re-invested back into curation accounts for the same 8 tribe tokens, so it also provides a positive boost to those tribes.

I undertook my 10th rebalance yesterday. The total basket dropped a little in value because the price of 4 out of the 8 tokens took a hit in the markets, however thats ok because the total number of tokens increased and I was able to buy more of one of the tokens at a discount price during the rebalance as a result (which is one of the main methods being used to increase the basket value). Its great to see the various methods of curation, posting, staking and rebalancing all working in tandem. You can check out my latest rebalance post on my @hoosieboy alt account here.

And as a reminder:

  • This weeks Savers of the Week post went live on friday (here). The awards for those selected are quite nice now ! We are looking for inciteful content that shows how you are saving, growing and investing. Each of the 4 nominees gets 15% of the notification post payout and 4 HSBIs - so it can work out as a nice little boost to all selected ! So make sure you are creating your weekly savings posts, and tagging them in the comments of the weekly post from susie-saver on the @eddie-earner account - you've got a very good chance of getting selected !

Nice work ! It definitely shows that the earning potential of author rewards is better than the rewards for curation, but both have a part to play in getting ongoing growth.

Yes, totally agree - got to keep focused on posts, but curation is important too. Its also nice to see that HP APR can also play its part.

Very impressive gains!

I really need to keep a fund just for HIVE HBD trading. My problem is as soon as I move some liquid HIVE in, I have the irresistible urge to power it all up. Gotta get over that...
