Saturday Savers Club Week 26 - enjoying playing Alien Worlds
Its week 26 (29/06/24) of my savings focus for 2024 with the Saturday Savers Club which is a great Hive community initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account.
My goals for this year are:
- Primary goal - to increase my HP by 7500, to 18500 HP,
- Secondary goal - to increase my HP delegation to @eds-vote by 1000 HP, to 3000 HP (because I want to accumulate more of the EDS token).
I will also be continuing to increase my holding of investment tokens, and delegating HP to a number of good community curation accounts as well.
This weeks pic -We were in Durham in England at that weekend, and I took this pic down at the riverside. The still water was casting a lovely reflection from the bridge, and thats Durham Castle at the top in the background. Durham has a really lovely quaint town centre and it was very lively (the pubs were absolutely packed). It was our first trip to Durham, and we loved it.
Weekly Investment Focus
- I've continued to focus on getting up to speed on some play-2-earn games that I've not tried much before, and particularly Alien Worlds (AW). I tried AW a couple of years ago and just couldn't get into it - I didnt find it very intuitive, nor a big earner. However, I've recently tried again, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the game and the earning potential. What I've learned is that you need to be connected to the right groups on discord to really make the most out of AW. As a result of doing that my earning has taken off, and I've still got quite a lot to learn. Anyway, I can see it really helping to boost my WAX stake on the WAX blockchain, so I'll be continuing to focus quite a lot on it in the coming weeks.
Weekly Stats
Weekly commentary
- HP Gain: I gained +39 HP this week. I havent been posting as much lately, and hence most of this gain is actually from APR and Curation (see line below),
- HP Passive: 23.26 of my HP gain this week came from curation (+14.49 HP, not really passive) and HP APR (+8.77 HP - based on the current HP APR of 3.21%) - which is another highest weekly income figure for this. Its making a big difference each week, and particularly when I'm not so active with posting,
- HP goal: My HP total now stands at 14214 HP and I need a further 4286 HP to hit my primary goal of 18500 HP. At 26 weeks to go, that requires 162 per week (an increase of 4 HP). The annual target is certainly looking rather difficult to hit, but I'll keep aiming for it,
- HP delegation to @eds-vote: My HP delegation to @eds-vote increased by +51 HP to 2645 HP. I need to delegate another 355 to hit my secondary target to raise my total delegation to 3000 HP. That will require an average of 13 HP delegated per week to hit it, which I should achieve (even if it means dumping more than planned in to hit the goal),
- HP delegation to curation accounts: I completed my delegation target for @qurator which now sits at 250 HP. I also then continued adding to my @worldmappin delegation adding a further 32 HP to take that total to 134 HP. The aim is to take that to 250 HP - so I have 116 to go - so I'm over half way,
- HP delegation to curation accounts: The main aim of these community delegations is to support these great curation accounts that have certainly helped me along the way to where I am now, but I'm also getting nice daily drips of HIVE as a result from @ocdb, @qurator and @curangel as they pass on their curation income to delegators, which is a nice little bonus !
I tend to reinvest those HIVE drips from the curation accounts back into my HBD:HIVE trading fund, giving a nice little synergy to growing another income stream, - LEO (which includes LP): I gained 24 LEO this week, which is a nice amount. It keeps on building up nicely,
- HP delegation to @leo-voter: I added 1 HP (!) to my delegation to @leo-voter this week (actually it was due to HP APR growth). I do intend to add to it further later in the year (after my curation account and @eds-vote delegation targets have been completed) but am monitoring it anyway because its an important part of my LEO growth strategy,
- EDS: I gained +2.71 EDS which is a little higher than normal, so thats great. My 2645 HP delegation to @eds-vote brought in 2.23 EDS this week. The rest of the gain seen came from the mining lottery for holding EDSMMs (I have 146 of those). I selected increasing my delegation to @eds-vote as my secondary goal as I'm really keen to keep accumulating EDS, and focusing on the HP delegation works well with my primary goal of increasing my HP total,
- HBD:HIVE Trading: I didnt have any trades go through again this week due to the low price of HIVE being outside of my active trading range. However, I have continued to use HBD from post payouts to extend my lower trading range, so hopefully that will help, assuming the price will pick up a little soon. Its really hard to tell whats going on with the price at the moment, so we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.
Plan for the coming week
- Regular Posting: Regular posting (daily) is the key to HP growth. I didnt do so well on this front again last week, so need to try and do a bit more, especially while the price of HIVE is so low,
- **Posting via Inleo: ** I'm continuing to post mostly using Inleo due to the extra LEO this will generate. Its making a difference, as is having Premium,
- Curation: To be active in HIVE Blog curation to help with HIVE curation rewards. I mostly try to keep my voting mana between 85 to 95%,
- Undelegated HP: To continue to increase undelegated HP in order to improve HIVE curation rewards,
- HBD:HIVE trading: To continue with HBD:HIVE trading. I'm going to keep adding more funds to the low end of my trading capital from post payouts over the coming weeks. HBD:HIVE trading has been working well for me, so I may as well take advantage of that and try to increase the profits on my trades - increasing my trading capital will help to make that happen,
- HP delegation to @eds-vote: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to @eds-vote will add a further 4 HP,
- HP delegation to curation accounts: This weeks delegation of 10% of my weekly HP income to community curation accounts will add a further 4HP to @worldmappin.
Summary
It was a quiet week on the posting front and that is reflected in my figures, but its great to see passive aspects making such a nice impact with gains across EDS, HP and LEO. Its also good to see that my delegation targets are getting there.
I'm going to continue to focus on a number of play-2-earn games in the coming weeks as I can see those turning into additional income streams which is always useful. As said above, Alien Worlds is already looking very good, so that will be a particular focus.
My Tribe Token Investment Project
My experiment with 8 different tribe tokens on my alt account @hoosieboy is moving along. The experiment is designed to grow semi-passively via staking, curation, posting and rebalancing - in a way where the methods should work together and add constructively. Everything gets re-invested back into curation accounts for the same 8 tribe tokens, so it also provides a positive boost to those tribes.
My last rebalance on the 23rd of June clocked up quite a nice increase due to a number of the tribe tokens going up in value (more so than I was expecting). It actually resulted in my largest gain during a rebalance to date (for just over 6 HIVE). I know the numbers are not massive, but I'm just enjoying doing the experiment, and I'm finding that the results are different at every rebalance, which keeps it very interesting for me. As such, I'm already looking forward to me next rebalance which I'll do in another week or two.
You can check out my latest rebalance post on my @hoosieboy alt account here.
And as a reminder:

Alien worlds turned out to be a huge disappointment for me. I still have so many assets and something like three lands, but the price on all of them has basically tanked!
Thats not good to hear. The land still seems to sell for quite a high price (but I've not looked at that much). Did you get involved in any of the mining alliances, or anything like that - they make a huge difference.
I'm part of the CABAL. We have all moved on from a lot of stuff now. I started out with four pieces of land. There was a point when the three I still have were worth $10K USD a piece. I should have sold them then. Instead I only sold my rare plot and I made $45K, so I can't really complain too much. I'm sitting on a boatload of worthless TLM though.
Holy cow - thats crazy values for the land ! I can understand your frustration then.
The TLM can be traded to WAX though - I guess it all depends what you want to do. I havent invested anything into AW, and I'm getting TLM/WAX out of it weekly, although at the moment I'm mostly reinvesting that back into it.
I'm just sitting on the TLM waiting for the price to recover. I don't think lands will ever get back up to that point again. I'm holding a couple hundred thousand TLM, but others in my group have millions.
Was going to say, noting that you still have some assets in there. Noting that I'll be looking to buy some more over the coming weeks, I'd be more than happy to give you the going rate on anything I'll be looking to buy. Can let you know each time I'm looking for something if that helps ? Next thing I'm aiming for is a power saw.
My account is vlqqq.wam if you want to look at my collection at some point.
OK - will have a look. And thats a crazy amount of TLM !
Holy crap - I just had a look. Wow - thats a serious collection !
