The One Time I Listened To A Crypto Influencer
I am always on the frontline of never listen to any crypto influencer, no matter how loud I say this, I wish I had listen to myself some few months ago. One thing about crypto influencers is that, they are called influencers for a reason, they have the power to influence their followers, so its easier for them to get jobs from brands who wants them to use their influence to promote their brands. Brands can pay them to promote, crypto projects can pay them to promote their projects and all they have to do is ship them and then get paid. They don’t care if it affects their followers negatively or not, they have gotten paid for their job and that is it. Sometimes FOMO can have the best of you and you forget your own advise and do the opposite of what you preached, I am guilty of this.

I follow this crypto influencer on twitter because he always posted about airdrops, but sometimes he post about other crypto things, like a new crypto project and their potentials. Few weeks ago he started posting about his progress on some of the crypto projects he had invested in, the first few posts he posted didn’t catch my attention, but I always envied that he was making cool profits from these crypto investments. Some of them included IDOs, new NFT calls and things like that, but one day he posted a new crypto project which caught my attention, I got interested, forgot my principles of not listening to crypto influencers, and invested in one of the projects he shilled. I think this was one of the wrongest decisions I have made this year. Due to the fact that I read some of his comment section to see people appreciate him for sharing posts that helped them make some money, I decided to try my luck with one of the projects he shilled.
I invested some money into the project, it was an IDO, bought some coins, we were expecting the launch of the token in July, I was hyped and couldn’t wait to get my coin. July came and passed, we didn’t get any news from the team, few days later we got a tweet from the twitter account saying they want to make a refund. We were sent a link to click but the click wasn’t opening, checked the telegram channel and a lot of people were complaining about how the project is a scam and how they might not get their money back. Its been over a month now and none of us have gotten our money back. Checked the crypto influencers page and he deleted the tweet. Then I remembered my own advise, never take crypto financial advise from a crypto influencer, most times they are just promoting projects they are paid to promote.
