Introduction

Part 1: Bitcoin mining energy consumption, problem or solution.

• Some people see bitcoin mining as a way to generate income for a select few, which is often criticized for consuming to much power.
• However, the fact that bitcoin mining can be done in remote or rural areas has changed bitcoins reputation from simply something which makes the bitcoin miners money, to a community partner, which helps communities who currently don't have electricity, become fully electrified.
• This strange partnership can completely change the life of the inhabitants of remote and rural communities.
• Bitcoin can change electricity desserts; "places without electricity", into electricity oceans; places with plenty electricity.
• And this conversion from dessert to ocean provides huge benefits to the communities.

Part 2: Electricity is a life changing innovation

• This story begins with me learning there are vast numbers of people living without electricity in our world, in 2025.
• Life without electricity means no lights after dark in homes, and streets in huge areas of the world.
• But it also means life without TV, computers, the internet and many other electrical deveice which make life in cities with electricity so much different and better. I was shocked to learn how many thinkgs I take for granted because I live where the city has electricity. I was also shocked to learn how being. in the dark for half the day drastically affects your life.

Part 3: Next I learned why these communities don't have electricity.

• While all communities want electricity, and all electrical companies want customers to sell electricity, the economics of the electricity business means many communities electricity needs are to small to make the business of supplying them electricity profitable.
• So electrical facilities are not built and the people in many parts of the world live without electricity.
• But if bitcoin mining companies can move into these areas and become a guaranteed buyer of all electricity the electrical facility makes, that the village doesn't use. Now the electrical companies can make a profit, and the electrical facilities can be built, in these remote or rural areas.
• It appears to be a simple matter of supply and demand. If there is enough demand, the companies will produce the supply.

Part 4: technology or knowledge is important, but profitability is the most important thing.

• Now there also needs to be some resource to convert into electricity; fuel oil, hydroelectric power, wind power, solar power or even geothermal power.
• The resources must exist, so the technology can electrify these remote and rural areas.
• But the technology or knowledge is not the main problem.
• It's the need for profitability.
• The electrical company can build an electrical facility for a remote village only when they have enough demand for the electrical facility to be profitable.
• The bitcoin mining company becomes the missing piece of the puzzle, which allows communities previously without electricty to become fully electrified.
• Now people who previously lived without electricity, suddenly have lights, and can power other electrical tools and appliances.
• The communities change from electrical desserts to electrical oceans.
• These people who know nothing of bitcoin, have their lives changed drastically by bitcoin, when bitcoin helps bring electricity to their communities.

I want you to focus on three simple things

• First, over half the world lives in communities without electricity, and thus the ability to use electric tools snd build factories powered by electricity is denied these communities. This simple fact means that the things like electric lights, electric stoves, electric water pumps are unknown to these people. Additionally things like computers, the internet, and more importantly electrical machines to build things from wood or metal are unknown to the people of these villages all over the world. This lack of electricity hinders the development of these villages economically and contributes to their life of poverty.

• Second, the cost of producing electricity in rural areas usually exceeeds the ability of the community to purchase this energy. Even renewable energy like wind, water and sun needs a balance between supply and demand. Unfortunately, the electricity production of even the smallest electricity producing facilities exceeds the electricity needs of these often small communities. So the production of electricity isn't financially viable or sustainable business. There are not enough customers to make it economically viable.

Third, bitcoin fixes this problem.
Bitcoin miners need energy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Bitcoin miners can buy all the power a community can't use, so the electric company can make a profit.
Bitcoin is the community partner which makes these electrical facilities profitable.
So now electric companies can buld electricity generating facilities in areas where the electric companies couldn't previously build, because demand for electricity was to small to support an electrical facility.
So now electrical companies are able to sell the community all the electricity the people need.
So now the electrical facility in the village is profitable.

Bitcoin changes electricity deserts, into electricity oceans.
Bitcoin changes people from living in the darkness to living in the light.
Bitcoin improves the quality of life for remote and rural villages by bringing electricity, light, water, tools, appliances, the internet, jobs and money.
Bitcoin makes all this possible by consuming electricity.

Lastly, each community is a stone in a path leading from one village to the next village.
Because once a electrical company moves into a village, it is now close to the next village.
The electric company can make the same agreement with the a bitcoin miner in the second village, and then the third, the fourth and so on to infinity. As long as their are people and bitcoin miners, there can be power.
This process can keep repeating itself until all the villages have both electrical companies and bitcoin miners. And when the village grows to the point that it needs all the power, electrical facility capacity can be increased to fill that demand.
